The City and Regional Planning Section of the Knowlton School of Architecture (KSA) invites applicants for the Trott Visiting Professor position (rank Assistant Professor) from Autumn 2011 through Spring 2012.

We seek candidates with a strong record or strong promise of scholarship in Housing, Community Development and/or Economic Development. The successful candidate will have an applied approach to research and be well-grounded in the theory and practice of planning. Applicants should be able to teach undergraduate- through graduate-level studios, conduct seminars and lectures. The Trott Visiting Professor will interact with faculty and students and make at least one public presentation. Preferred qualifications include a PhD in planning or a related field and experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.

The Ohio State University has many centers that the candidate can interact with, such as the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis, Center for Energy, Sustainability and the Environment, the International Poverty Solutions Collaborative, Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, Real Estate Center, and Center for Law, Policy and Social Science.

Located on the main campus of The Ohio State University (OSU), the City & Regional Planning section offers a professionally accredited master of city and regional planning degree, along with a research oriented doctoral degree. The program recently added an undergraduate major and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to all of the academic programs. The C&RP section has ten faculty members, 130 undergraduate students, 90 master’s students, 20 PhD students, and is active in research, teaching and service, alongside programs in architecture and landscape architecture. Increasingly our curriculum encourages students to work with diverse disciplines across the College of Engineering and the University to develop individual areas of concentration. Since its inception in 1956, the C&RP program has produced some of the most influential and effective planning professionals in the world. The program's high quality and large size offer a challenging and stimulating learning environment for its students. They work closely with the faculty and explore a wide range of topics geared toward improving physical, spatial, social, economic, and environmental quality of life for people. The program has an outstanding internship program in which more than 60 students have 20-hour per week paid internships (many with tuition and fee waivers) with public and private planning agencies in the metropolitan area.

Applicants must send (by mail or email in pdf format): 1) a letter describing research and teaching interests – including short descriptions of one or two subjects that you would propose to teach, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) three examples of scholarly work (including design work if relevant); and 4) contact information for three references (please provide name, title, address, telephone number, and e-mail) to:
