INTERNSHIP
Chicago Gateway Green, a long-established and well-known Chicago non-profit, is offering a paid internship to a motivated student. The right person will have a can-do attitude and be aligned with the organization’s mission.
Chicago Gateway Green is dedicated to greening and beautifying the expressways, gateways, and neighborhoods of Chicago. Duties and Responsibilities
As well as maintaining gardens along the expressways and gateways of Chicago through its Expressway Partnership Program (EPP), Chicago Gateway Green also manages the Tree Partnership Program (TPP), which has a goal of planting 15,000 trees in Chicago by 2015. The Intern will be primarily involved in assisting staff with the execution of the EPP and also some project work related to the TPP. Typical activities will include data gathering, graphic design, research, and drafting supporting documentation for a various types of proposals.
The Intern will also assist staff with various fundraising events, such as the Chicago Gateway Green’s signature gala event, the Green Tie Ball.
Reporting
The Intern will report to the Executive Director and work in close conjunction with the Business Development Manager and the Landscape Operations Manager.
Terms
o The hourly rate is $10 per hour.
o The Intern should be able to work at least 10-15 hours per week from the Chicago Gateway Green offices.
Qualifications and Experience
o Working experience with industry standard software.
o Excellent attention to detail.
o Well-organized.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Interest in urban planning and sustainability issues.
o Willing to take initiative on projects and suggest innovative solutions.
o Knowledge of landscape design is a bonus.
o Graduate student preferred.
Chicago Gateway Green’s Internship Program offers students an opportunity to learn about urban greening and beautification efforts in the City of Chicago, will provide an in-depth view of how non-profit organizations operate, and satisfy course credit in applicable cases.
