GIS Crash Data Mapping and Analysis Internship
Put some real experience on your resume. North America’s premier transportation advocacy non-profit, the Active Transportation Alliance, is seeking part-time intern assistance from students who are interested in careers in urban planning. Class credit may be available to qualified interns who can commit to 15+ hours per week for a semester-long internship.
We seek an experienced GIS specialist to analyze data trends for bicycle and pedestrian crashes for years 2005-2008. Specific data analysis may include ranking cities in Illinois for bicycle and pedestrian crashes, ranking areas within Chicago for bicycle and pedestrian crashes, and using kernel density analysis to map areas with a high number of crashes.
The internship will run for the Winter 2010 semester, with the opportunity to continue in the spring. Expertise with Access database functions, Access queries, and ArcGis are essential. Knowledge of statistical analysis is helpful, but not required.
Preference will be given to current college students or recent graduates. Submit resume and cover letter to lina@activetrans.org [1]. Please put “GIS Internship” in the subject line. No faxes or phone calls please.
