Job Description Summary:

Under general direction of the Deputy Director of Transportation and Mobility, provide leadership and manage the transportation planning of the city’s multimodal transportation system. This includes taking a department-wide perspective and working cooperatively with other division managers to incorporate planning through the lifecycle of projects and assets from planning, building, to operating and maintaining the system. The transportation planning manager also oversees regional and local transportation policy efforts. This position serves as an advisor to the Transportation and Mobility Department Director and Deputy Director and supports City Council, city advisory boards and city staff, functions as a liaison with other city departments and is a member of the Transportation and Mobility management team emphasizing effective communications, continuous improvement, problem-solving orientation, service to customers, and accountability.

DescriptionKimley-Horn's Lisle, IL office is seeking experienced transportation planners to join our growing team. We are looking for entrepreneurial people who enjoy working in a team environment where they can develop and grow a transportation planning practice of their own, while working alongside leaders in the industry. Our firm's flat management structure provides a great deal of autonomy to consultants who are passionate about building their practice and serving clients. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge transportation tasks and projects including long-range transportation plans, transportation master plans and corridor studies. 
Position Requirements• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related area of study
• AICP, P.E. or qualified to sit for AICP or P.E. within one year
• At least 4 years of experience post college graduation in transportation planning
• Strong organization and planning skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
