Associate Director - Labor Education Center - DePaul University - Hybrid

The Highlights:

Provides support in fundraising, outreach, marketing and recruitment, programming, and event support and logistics. 

What You'll Do:
  • Fundraising = For our two annual fundraisers and several grants, will be responsible for donation outreach via email, phone, and social media and reporting through data entry and creating fundraising and grant reports to analyze with Director and making strategic outreach plans for the future 

  • High School Programs = Manage the outreach, recruitment of coaches and participants, event coordination, and facilitation of the high school bargaining role play and summer high school programs. 

  • Outreach and Recruitment = Responsible for marketing and identifying and facilitating new relationships for our programs, including recruitment of participants, instructors, students, volunteers, interns, and organizational partners.  This will be done in a variety of ways including but not limited to creating and distributing flyers, setting up booths at events, cold calling and emailing, as well as setting up and attending networking events.

  • Administrative = Manage record keeping.  Responsible for social media content creation, and coordination of events and programs from planning, scheduling, reserving, outreach, and facilitation.  

  •  Supervisory = Recruit and supervise volunteers and interns who will report to them directly.  Responsible for scheduling shifts and training, reviewing performance.

  • Assists the Director in managing student workers, volunteers, and interns.  

  • Responsible for assisting with the preparation, outreach, facilitation, and reporting of our two annual fundraisers that have historically raised up to $85,000, and grants of up to $80,000.  Also responsible to identify, facilitate, and secure new funding opportunities including additional fundraisers and grants. 
 
What You'll Need:
 
  • Minimum required education and relevant experience: High School diploma/GED, and 3 years experience working for labor related organizations (unions, worker centers, community labor focused organizations, etc).  
  • Preferred education and relevant experience: Bachelor's degree, fundraising and administrative support experience, experience working with youth.  
  • Much of the position can be done remotely though part of the position requires in person work at places such as the office, events, and partner organizations throughout Cook County and surrounding suburbs. Must be able to drive or secure transportation for self in such instances.  
  • Also, preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Periodically spends extended periods of time driving, sitting, or standing.
  • Effective people, writing, speaking, computer and social media skills. Detail oriented and proficient with database entry, Microsoft Office Suite and Google suite applications (shared drive, docs, forms, etc.). Preferred intermediate skills with Canva, Publisher and Photoshop.
  • Hours vary and include some evenings and weekends.  
  • May be asked to very occasionally attend meetings, trainings, and/or conferences in other parts of the state and U.S. Prefer at least a 2 year commitment.
