The Position: The Preservation Compact Senior Program Officer provides strategic support for the Preservation Compact, a collaborative initiative housed at CIC to address the loss of affordable rental housing in Cook County. Collaborative partners encompass a diverse array of housing stakeholders, including all levels of government, for-profit and non-profit developers, community and grassroots groups, lenders and civic organizations. The Senior Program Officer leads policy analysis and stakeholder engagement efforts, driving consensus-building among partners to advance the Compact's affordable housing preservation goals. This role involves developing and implementing strategic initiatives, conducting research and analysis to inform policy recommendations, and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across sectors.
Reports to: Director of The Preservation Compact
Duties and Responsibilities:

Support Preservation Compact Director in the development and implementation of the Preservation Compact's policy agenda and strategic plan

Conduct research and analysis to further the Preservation Compact's policy, legislative, and other priorities

Convene, facilitate, and coordinate logistics of select regular and ad hoc working groups

Represent the Preservation Compact at meetings and events as needed, cultivate relationships with partners and other stakeholders

Track, research, and update information on properties targeted for preservation

Identify and develop resources including maps, data tools, and outreach materials to support Preservation Compact activities

Assist in developing biannual report, other publications, and grant reports as needed

Support cross-programmatic efforts within Community Investment Corporation

Maintain excellent relations and communications with coworkers, CIC staff, and external partners, and other stakeholders

Field ad hoc requests for information or assistance from the Preservation Compact

Provide communications, content and updates regarding assigned program areas to be included in the Preservation Compact's newsletter, press releases, action alerts, legislative updates, meeting minutes, and program areas of the website

Collaborate with team members on outreach, communications, events, and other activities as needed
Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in community development, affordable housing, public policy, or related fields preferred

Excellent MS Office skills, experience with data analysis and GIS/mapping software, and Notion project management platform preferred

Knowledge of local/regional housing and community development institutions strongly preferred

Experience with website content maintenance and email newsletter programs preferred

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability prioritize multiple deadline driven projects

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills


Salary range of $75k-$80k. Full benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, long term disability insurance, PTO, tuition reimbursement and gym membership reimbursement.
