Position Description

The City is looking for a quality focused, balanced decision maker, who is cable of building collaborative working relations within the City organization, Bothell community, and the region, to be our next Senior Planner in our Long-Range Planning Division.

What will this person do? 

  • Work on Long-range Community Development and planning efforts. 
  •  Participate and provide guidance and analysis in areas such as transit oriented development and the refinement and implementation of a housing strategy including affordable housing, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and sub-area planning. 
  • Foster relationships and collaborate with regional partners to address and implement community goals.
What does this person need to be successful? 

  • Bachelor's Degree in planning, urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, public policy or closely related field; and
  • Five (5) years of professional planner experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training,  life and work experience that has allowed an applicant to develop the skills necessary to be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate through the use of multiple different modes and communication styles.
  • Ability to develop unique solutions to complex issues related to long-range planning.
  • Professional and technical accomplishment in the community development/planning field.
