Who: The Village of Streamwood, Illinois, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant
Community Development Director.
What: This is highly responsible, professional and administrative work involving assisting the
Community Development Director with planning, organizing and directing a multi-functional
department engaged in various activities including planning, zoning administration, economic
development, community relations, building inspection and code enforcement; supervising
employees in the Department; managing the land review process; coordinating projects identified
in the comprehensive plan; recommending short and long term plans for development; promoting
economic development opportunities and positive community relations. Work involves providing
technical advice and guidance to the Village Board and its volunteer Boards and Commissions.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment, have strong
leadership abilities, able to make decisions pertaining to staff and procedures, and set a positive
example of competence, professionalism and work ethic to the organization and community.
Candidates must have Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from an accredited college or university
in urban/regional planning, construction science or related field; preferably supplemented by a
graduate degree in urban/regional planning, construction science or related field; progressively
responsible experience in urban/regional planning including supervisory experience; or an
equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates must have a valid State of Illinois
driver’s license.
Benefits: Salary range: $81,000-$121,500. Excellent benefits including pension plan, health and dental insurance.
