Transportation Scheduler - Pace (Arlington Heights)

Who: Pace - Dept. of Service Planning & Scheduling - Office of Strategic Services

What: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Scheduling and the Section Manager of Service Planning & Scheduling, the entry level Transit Scheduler position performs specialized work as follows: Drafts transit schedules and prepares daily work assignments for vehicles and drivers; performs runcuts, rosters and blocks schedules; assists Planners in scheduling and designing bus routes and travel times; and analyzes and compiles scheduling related statistics and reports. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The preferred candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in either Urban & Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, Math, Statistics, Computer Logic, Computer Programming or Engineering. Up to two (2) years of transit scheduling experience is preferred but previous internships at a transit agency or a Master's Degree can be used to fulfill the minimum years of experience. While proficiency with scheduling software such as Hastus and experience in vehicle schedule development and runcutting (crew scheduling) is desired, we are willing to train the right person. Preference given to a person with highly developed mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills. The qualified candidate must have excellent time management skills and able to produce timely and accurate work with minimal supervision.
