Inventory Planner - Illinois Tollway (Downers Grove, IL)

Who: Illinois Tollway, Central Administration Office

What: Inventory Planner; Analyzes order requests from all of the Tollway's Using Departments and remote ordering sites to determine proper course of action to acquire materials and services in the most economical and timely fashion. Monitors the Order Indication Report, the Central Warehouse Weekly Contract Dollar Limit Report, and the Open NEEDs Report to maintain proper stock levels. Specific duties include:
In order to perform the principal activities of this position, the Inventory Planner reviews printed daily and weekly reports in order to properly maintain the Warehouse stock levels. This position reviews new and open orders from the Using Departments that are not filled by current Warehouse stock and determines whether the items can be purchased via an existing contract or whether to route the NEED electronically for departmental approval and procurement via an alternate method.

The Inventory Planner on a monthly basis prepares contracts by monitoring expiration dates and reevaluating the need for the renewal or reissue of current contracts. Upon approval of the Inventory Analysis & Control Supervisor, the Inventory Planner will initiate the renewal process or will initiate a request for a new procurement when necessary.

As well as providing day-to-day operational assistance to all remote ordering sites and using departments, the Inventory Planner determines the course of action to be taken for materials that have been returned to CW by the Using Departments. On a weekly basis, the Inventory Planner monitors the Open NEEDs Report to determine whether goods have been received by the using departments, but not yet received via the SUN System. If the goods have not been received at all, the Inventory Planner works with the Using Departments to ensure these items are accounted for and received.

The Inventory Planner communicates with all Using Departments at many levels during the process of providing goods and services and assists with the resolution of problems. This position requires good organizational and inventory management expertise, as well as good scheduling and usage projection techniques.

The Tollway anticipates a 07/01/2018 go-live date of the new Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") System. The Inventory Planner must be comfortable and familiar with computer tools. The Inventory Planner must also be able to work comfortably in a dynamic and changing environment as the transition is made from the mainframe-based SUN System to the new SAP environment (the ERP System).

Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One to two years of experience in inventory planning or an inventory-controlled work environment is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required. Data entry and math skills are required. Knowledge of warehouse operations, accounting, and statistics are beneficial skills for this position. Experience with the Tollway's SUN System is desired. SAP experience and familiarity with other computer tools is desired. Ability to multitask is required. Very good organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to interact effectively with various levels of management and to communicate well with various levels of staff is required.
