Engagement Coordinator, Part-time, Chicago

ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR :: JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Background
Share Our Spare is a local, Chicago based nonprofit that collects new and gently-used infant and toddler essentials from families with extras to "spare" and distributes these items to local families in need.  Founded in 2011, SOS helps thousands of families living below the poverty line each month by filling a much needed gap in the safety net system.

How it works
At the beginning of each month we receive donations, of baby and toddler essentials including diapers, wipes, clothes, baby gear, blankets, etc. Throughout the month we coordinate volunteers to help sort and package these items. At the end of each month, SOS partners with social service agencies to “shop” (for free) for their clients. This model fills a critical need, as our partner agencies do not have the resources, space or connections to provide these items for their families on a consistent basis.

Share Our Spare is aggressively expanding the number of families we serve.  Over the past six months, we have doubled our number of agency partners and have a constant flow of volunteer requests monthly.   In the past six months, the organization hired an Executive Director focused on building the infrastructure, fundraising and developing corporate partnerships. Additional staff is needed to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities work and deepen agency partner relationships.
