Village of Mount Prospect, IL

The Village of Mount Prospect is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Development Review Planner within the Community Development Department.

Essential responsibilities include:
  • Reviews development plans to ensure compliance with the Village’s Zoning Ordinance;
  • Reviews plats to ensure compliance with the Subdivision Code;
  • Prepares and presents staff’s recommendation at public hearings;
  • Serves as staff liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission;
  • Provides technical assistance to the general public regarding zoning; and
  • Performs other duties including performing final inspections, code enforcement, participating in the development of code updates.
The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or related field and at least two (2) years of planning experience. A master’s degree and/or experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desirable, but not required. Strong verbal and writing skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent customer service skills are a must.

This position pays between $60,000 and $65,000 annually depending on qualifications.
