This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center (MATEC’s) Central Office, Illinois Site, and Great Lakes ATTC (office IT only). Focus of the position is on managing and expanding learning technologies for training; serving as liaison for web, data, and server needs; and managing day to day IT operations within MATEC.
Leads MATEC team on current and new learning technology implementation. Serves as regional resource (including working with subcontractors) in using these technologies to improve training and evaluation.
Provides technical expertise in designated areas including learning technologies (specifically Adobe Connect, Blackboard), desktop IT (Microsoft environment), liaison for web and web-based data systems (specifically to ACCC, and using Excel and Access).
Oversees technology for web-based, Excel, and Access database and serves on team working with program data. Serves as liaison with ACCC (server host) and Department of Family Medicine for desktop IT and server maintenance functions, and purchasing and inventory of hardware.
Oversees installation of computers and workstations on the network, hardware and software upgrades, maintaining and monitoring the system to provide optimal quality to the end-users. Serves as backup for graduate student when he/she is unavailable. Recommends modifications to third party software to meet user needs.
Prepares documentation to support functions described above and provide user support for new or modified programs. Maintains and supports assigned systems with documented testing and development of procedures to ensure minimal downtime and loss of productivity and service. Evaluates and supplements vendor supplied documentation for third party software.
Serves as lead writer of protocols and procedures on technical use of the databases, processes for IT requests, and hardware/software purchasing.
Supervises graduate and undergraduate assistants. Serves as team leader on web and learning technology projects. Monitors the progress and direction of assigned tasks and makes corrections as needed. Determines training needs and provides training opportunities for staff.
Reviews, analyzes, and recommends the best approach and overall design for computer application development for training and office applications. Advises designated personnel on software. Installs or oversees installation of new, modified or third party software releases and/or updates. Designs or provides liaison with the designer of user-friendly interfaces to systems, applications and databases. These functions are performed with traditional computer programming and/or web based programs.
Maintains or serves as liaison for maintenance of MATEC website, including registration and data portions. (Website written in PhP and MySql.)
Develops presentations on current and future plans or services. Makes product and vendor recommendations. Act as a software and hardware vendor liaison. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Any combination totaling two years from the following categories:
a) progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession
b) college course work in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year
90-120 semester hours or Bachelor’s Degree equals two years
2. Experience in Network Administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of training/education or related industry preferred.
• Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment.
• Ability to seek out solutions to problems without prompting.
• Strong liaison skills, i.e., developing professional relationships to further success in all areas of responsibility.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Excel Dashboard.
• Familiarity with MySql and PhP languages preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of personal or professional web development or management experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment.
