This
position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services
(HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Food Safety and
Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Office of Food Defense, Communication and
Emergency Response, Food Defense Oversight Team, College Park, MD. As a
Policy Analyst you will analyze and manage the development of the
Center's food safety and defense programs and activities.
This vacancy is also being announced concurrently with vacancy announcement HHS-FDA-CFSN-MP-13-783029 under

Back to top- Serves as a technical advisor and lead for analyzing and managing the development of the Center's food safety and food defense programs and activities.
- Develops strategies and reviews regulatory policy documents for compliance with food defense policies.
- Assess and monitors emerging and/or current issues that impact the Center's policies and procedures in relation to food defense.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance on policy development for food defense programs.
- Attends and presents at conferences on strategic food defense initiatives.
- Advises organizations and/or staff on current regulations and programs related to food defense awareness.
- Responds to inquiries from internal and/or external organizations (i.e. Congress, Federal agencies, state, academia, consumers) to provide technical assistance, information and guidance regarding defense programs.

GS-14: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience,
equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal
service, that included: formulating regulatory policies and guidelines
that impact food safety and defense procedures; serving as a technical
advisor and responding to inquiries on practices and programs regarding
food safety and defense; leading analytical tests to assess the effects
of proposed changes in regulation and policies; conducting vulnerability
assessments on the food supply in accordance with HSPD9; and developing
materials (i.e. presentations, reports, back ground materials) for
presenting information on food defense initiatives to a diverse
audience.
All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
