Data management assistant/intern

The data management assistant/intern's primary duties will be to assist
senior staff in acquiring, archiving and retrieving data for ongoing
research projects and technical assistance. As necessary, the research
assistant/intern will also assist in conducting reviews of relevant
literature and providing technical assistance to community-based
organizations. The work will take place in Woodstock's Chicago Loop
office location for approximately 24 hours per week. Recent Woodstock
Institute interns have gone on to full-time positions at the City of
Chicago, Freddie Mac, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition,
Quadel Consulting, and the Center for American Progress.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university;
• Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Excel and SPSS.
Experience with GIS software is preferred;
• Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets. Experience and
interest in working with housing market, mortgage lending, and financial
industry data a plus;
• Experience developing metadata for existing data and completed projects
• experience with, or an interest in, digital asset management systems
such as CKAN, Socrata, or DSpace strongly preferred;
• Ability to work well in fast-paced environment where colleagues
communicate frequently by email;
• Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and work
effectively with people at all levels and in an organized manner;
• Ability to prioritize work among simultaneous projects.

The hourly rate for this position is commensurate with experience. This
position does not include employee benefits.
