Assistant Professor: Old Dominion University - Urban Studies and Public Administration

The Department of Urban Studies and Public Administration, in the College of Business and Public Administration at Old Dominion University, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level.
The Department offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA program and a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Urban Policy. The minimum requirement for this position is completion of the Ph.D. degree in Public Administration, Urban Policy or related field by August 2010. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated potential in research and publications. Field of specialization is open, although research and teaching interests in one or more of the following are particularly welcome: Public Policy, Emergency Preparedness/ management, Ethics, Military/strategic affairs, Non-Profit Management, Public/Administrative Law, and Administrative Theory. Old Dominion University is a state-supported, Carnegie Doctoral/ Research-Extensive University with over 23,000 students. The University is located in Norfolk, Virginia, the hub of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area with a population of approximately 1.6 million. As a major recreation area known for its beaches, historical landmarks, and the Chesapeake Bay, the Hampton Roads Region also profits from its proximity to Washington, D.C., Williamsburg, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Federal, state, and local governments represent approximately a third of the region’s total employment. Boasting the largest naval base in the world, Hampton Roads also accommodates major Army and Air Force commands.
