Who: Village of Wheeling, IL – Community Development Department
What: This position provides technical input and planning direction to citizens, developers and the Plan Commission on all planning matters with special emphasis on development proposals, the Zoning Code and the Sign Code; to develop and administer effective planning procedures and controls; to serve as project manager on planning and development projects from proposals through permitting; to inspect properties for compliance with ordinance requirements; coordinate the inter-departmental review process for signage, site plan changes, and zoning/development petitions; and to provide planning assistance on all other matters as required.

What: Under the direction of the Zoning Administrator, this position is an entry-level position responsible for performing professional, administrative, technical, regulatory and programmatic functions that are the responsibility of Planning and Zoning Division. This position examines the working plans of proposed buildings and other structures for their compliance with the City zoning ordinance; enforces the zoning regulations; makes interpretations and decisions in applying provisions to individual projects; performs zoning analyses work and other planning functions of the Planning & Zoning Division.

Zoning Administrator/Planner I - City of Hobart, IN
Who: The City of Hobart, Northwest Indiana (Lake County) – Department of Planning, Zoning and Preservation
What: The Zoning Administrator/Planner I serves as department advisor to various city administrators and city staff on the evaluation and interpretation of zoning codes, subdivision codes, department forms and bylaws, and where applicable State codes. This position is the primary city staff liaison to the general public on zoning questions, department applications and procedural inquires, review/approval of location improvement permits, and stormwater site practices.
Candidates for consideration will be required to conduct, assist, and consult the Site Review Committee on proposed site plans, ordinance revisions, rezones, and variances; as well as perform site inspection for compliance, enforcement, and perform general office duties. Additional duties may include identifying, initiating, coordinating, and resolving community opportunities and challenges for better community planning; perform research and analysis on specific or general areas of project proposals or land use; assist with the city comprehensive plan, subarea plans, and land development regulations.
