Planning and Development Services of Kenton County (PDS) is seeking a full‐time professional planner to join the Planning and Zoning Administration team. Located in the heart of the Cincinnati metro region, our agency serves 160,000 residents that live, work, and play in a dynamic setting. Our landscape ranges from rural agricultural areas to true urban development patterns with everything in between. We are neighbors of downtown Cincinnati and are a key part of an energetic region that features diverse arts, major league sports, multiple higher education institutions, and the natural beauty of hills and valleys of Kentucky's Outer Bluegrass region.

'This professional will be primarily focused on current planning activities, such as map and text
amendments and board of adjustment issues. He/she will be heavily involved with the Zoning for the
21st Century (Z21) initiative, an effort to update all the zoning ordinances within Kenton County. There will also be the opportunity to work on long‐range planning projects from time to time. This position will work closely with the Kenton County Planning Commission, developers, citizens, elected officials, and other organizations and boards on land use and development related issues. The ideal candidate has a proficient understanding of zoning regulations, comprehensive planning, and design of the natural and built environments. Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills are vital. A commitment to public involvement and providing excellent service is a central aspect of this role. Previous experience with project management, code writing, report writing, public speaking, and GIS analysis are necessary.

AICP certification is preferred, or must be pursued within the first year of employment.
The starting salary range for this position is $52,000 to $60,000 depending on qualifications
A bachelor's or master's degree in urban planning, geography, or related field plus at least two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

The City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a growing population of 38,816, is seeking to fill the Director of Development Services position. Located along the Mississippi River and Interstate 55, and home to Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau is a regional education, retail and healthcare hub with a daytime population exceeding 100,000.
The City of Cape Girardeau operates under a council-manager form of government with the Mayor elected at-large and six City Council members elected from their respective Wards. The City has a $54.2 million operating budget with 395 full-time employees, a $25 million capital projects budget and a Standard & Poor’s National Municipal Bond rating of “A+.” Major departments include Citizen Services, Development Services, Fire, Police, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works, along with a regional airport.
The Director of Development Services is appointed by, and reports directly to, the Deputy City Manager as a part of the City’s top management team.
The successful candidate for Director of Development Services will be responsible for directing the activities of the Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Inspections and Planning divisions. The position is responsible for more than 25 full-time personnel, a $25 million Capital Improvement Projects budget and a $3+ million departmental operating budget.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required in public or business administration, planning, engineering or a related field, along with at least five years of progressive municipal government experience. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
The starting salary is in the low $70’s with the mid-range at $91,000.

One of the most desirable and safest communities in the nation is seeking a Development Services Director to oversee the City’s planning, building, engineering and maintenance functions. Currently serving a population of more than 105,000, the City of Murrieta is slated to grow to 135,000 and is well positioned as the emerging preferred locale in Southern California. The Development Services Department is supported by a staff of 38 and an annual budget of $4.3 million.
The City is seeking a leader with an outstanding customer orientation. The ideal candidate will also be an outstanding people manager with superior communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, the proven ability to analyze and solve complex problems is desired. A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering or related field is required. A Master’s degree, AICP certification and/or registration as a professional engineer is preferred.
