Marketing and Development Coordinator - Austin Coming Together

Position Description

The Marketing & Development Coordinator is responsible for completing a broad variety of marketing and development functions in conjunction with the Director of Marketing & Development. The Marketing & Development Coordinator is accountable for 1) assisting in managing relationships with our 50+ member organizations; 2) supporting all communications and fundraising on behalf of ACT, which includes multimedia, events, donor management and special projects; 3) collaborating across ACT’s internal teams to integrate and innovate; as well as, 4) executing the overall marketing and development strategy to connect, elevate, and positively promote Austin, Austin Coming Together, and the various stakeholders that contribute to the overall improvement of service delivery for Austin residents.

Organization Description

Austin Coming Together is the backbone support organization for a broad network of private, public, and non-profit organizations that share a vision for a thriving Austin community. Our mission is to increase the collective impact of our member organizations on education and economic development outcomes in the Austin community of Chicago. ACT and our members have created a long-term strategy called “Thrive 2025,” a blueprint for collective impact over 10 years. Thrive 2025 outlines 4 impact areas that our members collaborate around: Quality Early Learning, Living Wage Careers, Safe Neighborhoods, and a Stable Housing Market. ACT’s role is to build shared leadership in each impact area, facilitate strategic and collaborative action to achieve common goals, develop systems of mutual accountability and support, and create opportunities to engage the community together. Responsibilities

In order to carry out this role effectively, the Marketing & Development Coordinator must have a clear grasp of ACT’s mission, vision and values; be able to deliver a clear and consistent message about all ACT initiatives and our broad partner network; maintain up-to-date knowledge of member-related programs and services; and, be able to communicate and establish rapport with a diverse range of residents and stakeholders to increase connectivity and collaboration across the ACT Network and throughout Austin. The Marketing & Development Coordinator works on multiple tasks simultaneously, focuses and performs well under pressure, effectively prioritizes, and meets deadlines. The successful candidate will be well-organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communications
    • Design marketing and communication content and strategies for all ACT-led events and development efforts, including but not limited to presentations, media advisories, and press releases, social media, website, quarterly newspaper sections, etc.; collaborate across teams as needed
  • Resource Development
    • Assist with the donor management process of recruiting and maintaining donors including the planning and implementation of engagement efforts; updating contact information; writing communications
    • Assist with the development and management of funding opportunities to resource the organization, such as research, grant-writing, soliciting donations, crafting content like an annual appeal letter
  • Membership
    • Attend special events and partner convenings that support and elevate investment opportunities in Austin; collect and share information about community-wide initiatives 
    • Co-facilitate member management process and administration pipeline; host discovery meetings, review applications, coordinate communications and invoicing, connect members across teams
  • Events
    • Co-facilitate event management as a secondary internal team lead alongside M&D Manager; support planning, marketing, and execution of all ACT-led fundraising and program events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or other relevant field (preferred)
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience supporting marketing and development functions, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Experience with internal and external communications; partnership development and fundraising, a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work collaboratively across ACT teams and with multiple stakeholders including CBOs, government agencies, funders, business owners, schools, partners, community members and residents
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential; verbal and written
  • Highly intelligent with strong attention to detail, able to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
  • Extensive internet research abilities and experience with data/database management
  • Graphic Design experience using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • A willingness and ability to use data management tools as well as email marketing and social media tools, and possesses a high level of self-motivation
  • Remains focused, delivers against timelines, not intimidated by tasks or time limitations
  • Experience working in West Side neighborhoods of Chicago; Austin community preferred
  • Strong commitment to ACT’s mission, vision and values

Hours and Compensation

This is a full-time permanent position that may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule which could include up to 2 days per week of remote work. The Marketing & Development Coordinator is expected to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Salary is commensurate with experience and ranges between $40,000-$50,000 plus benefits. The Marketing & Development Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Marketing & Development.
