Position Overview
The Workforce Grant Managers with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is responsible for the day-to-day workforce development project and grant management activities. This project and grant manager works under the general direction of DCEO’s Office of Employment and Training (OET) Program Managers to assist in the development and implementation of state workforce projects and manage state workforce grants including but not limited to the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act . The ideal candidate will be able to support the program development, implement program requirements, organize information, compile grant documents, provide presentations and technical assistance to grantees, and assist in evaluating program outcomes. Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a Grant Manager responsible for the administration workforce grants.
- Coordinates the Notice of Funding Opportunity Merit Review Process in accordance with the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act and the Office of Employment and Training Procedures as assigned.
- Develops analytical reports for evaluation of the grantee’s ability to meet service goals established for the workforce grants as directed.
- Provides support, coaching, and collaboration with workforce partners.
- Works with the OET Budget Unit and DCEO Accounting Office to establish and maintain the grant program infrastructure that is required for the management of the grants and the reporting of expenditures and obligations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with concentration in industrial development, business administration, economic geography, marketing or economics.
- Requires two years responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Specialized Skills
- Of the years of experience noted above, requires one year of experience reviewing fiscal reports and performing fiscal reconciliations, budget information or budget variance analysis.
