Senior Project Engineer (and other opportunities) - Illinois Tollway

Who: Illinois Tollway

What: This position is responsible for project management and/or support from inception to completion (e.g. planning, feasibility, design, land acquisition, construction, etc), including but not limited to:

  • New transportation corridors 
  • Widening and/or rehabilitation of existing Tollway facilities 
  • Review of new access studies to the Tollway system 
  • Plaza and Oasis improvements 
  • Maintenance and other facility related projects 
  • Developing and directing design and/or construction requirements 
  • Establishing construction schedules 
  • Soliciting and providing input during all project phases 
  • Providing contract and project status updates/reports 
  • Obtaining public input and responding appropriately 
  • Tollway liaison between the consultant and/or other entities, including other Departments and Divisions. 
Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field is required, with five (5) to ten (10) years of practical experience in highway planning, design or construction. A professional engineer's license is required. Excellent organizational skills are required to effectively manage complex projects. Above average communication skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Experience in planning and studies, geometrics, materials, bridge structures, as well as supervisory experience is desired. Experience in administering construction and consultant contracts is desired. Experience with a web-based project management system is desired.
