Washington University in St. Louis has a full-time tenure track position in the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design with a focus on the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and the humanities. This is funded under our Mellon Foundation Grant initiative, The Divided City. More information can be found here: http://samfoxschool. wustl.edu/files/AsstProf- Architecture_Urban% 20Humanities_2017_2018_final. pdf and more about our school on our soon-to-be-revamped website (http://samfoxschool.wustl. edu/). As the ad says, "The faculty seeks a dynamic scholar-designer-artist- teacher with expertise in both the theory and practice of architecture as it relates to urbanism and to the social constructs of urban space" so it is not exactly a planning position, but would be perfect for someone with an interdisciplinary background including architecture and a research or creative agenda around justice and urbanism. The Sam Fox school is a design environment, housing art, architecture, landscape architecture and urban design. We have amazing students from all over the world and work locally and globally on issues surrounding sustainable urbanism. Our school is half undergrads and half grads, including a growing population in dual degrees (architecture / landscape architecture / urban design / public health with the Brown School) and a new Doctoral Program in Sustainable Urbanism.
The administrative contact for the position is Angela Gunn who can be reached at: angela.gunn@wustl.edu. I will be at ACSP, but briefly, and have no formal time set aside to meet about the position. However, I'm happy to find time to talk about our program if you feel this position is a fit for you. We also welcome professionals interested in returning to school for a doctoral program who have an interest in applied questions of sustainable urbanism.
