Clinical Assistant Professor and Assessment Coordinator
The UIC Library seeks an innovative Assessment Coordinator to lead evidence-based assessment initiatives to achieve strategic objectives and inform decision-making related to services, collections, technology, and physical spaces.  The Coordinator will help demonstrate the value and impact of the Library in facilitating student and faculty success.
The Coordinator will collaborate with relevant stakeholders in all library locations to incorporate assessment into library programs, promote best practices for identifying assessment and actionable outcomes, ensure the accurate collection and preservation of data, and analyze and interpret data to inform strategic planning, communication, and decision-making.  The Coordinator will also assist stakeholders to confidently use appropriate assessment tools and techniques.
Reports to: Scholarly Communication Librarian
The Assessment Coordinator:
  • Plans, designs, and implements library assessment initiatives in collaboration with the library’s senior leadership team, Assessment Advisory Committee, Steering Committee and relevant stakeholders.
  • Leverages the results of library assessment activities to enhance and illustrate the impact of the library, develop actionable outcomes in collaboration with decision makers, and  inform the Library’s strategic planning.
  • Leads the design and implementation of regular internal and external surveys and other assessment methods
  • Coordinates data collection and analysis, and shares findings with appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversees the deposit and preservation of data in standardized reporting formats from all appropriate library units into the Library’s centralized data repository
  • Promotes and shares expertise in assessment through consultation and collaborative development of assessment programs with library departments
  • Conducts staff training and creates development opportunities for library staff related to assessment
  • Keeps apprised of assessment developments and introduces new methods or tools to library staff
  • Gathers data for University needs as well as national reporting to organizations such as ARL and AAHSL.
  • Maintains and updates the library’s dashboard, including data and graphical interfaces
  • Chairs the Assessment Advisory Committee
  • ALA accredited MLS or other relevant advanced degree
  • Two years of professional library experience or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in a position that requires the development and implementation of assessment strategies
  • Ability to present complicated information in easily comprehensible formats, e.g. data visualization, appropriate use of charts, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability in data analysis and organization
  • Academic coursework in statistical methods, qualitative methods, and research design
Preferred qualifications
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in higher education or other complex organizations
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative approaches to assessment such as user-centered design, ethnographic research, usability studies, or evaluation design
  • Working knowledge of Tableau or other statistical software applications used for analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Experience with supporting accreditation efforts in higher education
  • Experience with national library assessment programs, e.g., LibQUAL+, Project Information Literacy, NSSE, Value of Academic Libraries
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the competencies ACRL has identified for assessment coordinators [ACRL draft competencies]
SALARY/CONTRACT:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; The minimum salary for a full-time twelve-month appointment is $51,333; Benefits for a twelve month appointment include 24 days of vacation; 12 days annual sick leave with additional disability benefits; 11 paid holidays; medical and dental insurance (with employee contribution); participation in one of the retirement options of the Illinois State Universities Retirement System compulsory.  For further description of benefits see https://nessie.uihr.uillinois.edu/cf/benefits/
