Houseal Lavigne Associates is seeking candidates to fill an immediate full-time position as an Associate Planner. Houseal Lavigne Associates is a growing urban planning and community development consulting firm that provides a wide range of planning, design and development related services to both public and private sector clients throughout the country. The Firm is located in Downtown Chicago, Illinois.

Skills of the successful candidate will include:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or related discipline;
  • 1-5 Years of professional planning or design related work experience required (consulting experience preferred);
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantative data, and translate findings into concise and effective narrative text;
  • Proficiency and experience with ArcGIS/ArcView and the Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Knowledge of and experience with research and survey techniques.
Duties would include, but not be limited to:
  • Assisting with public meetings and community outreach;
  • Summarizing public meetings and other outreach exercises;
  • Drafting of analytical findings and planning concepts and recommendations;
  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals and plan documents;
  • Assisting with field surveys and inventories (note: this may involve travel);
  • Researching property and land use information;
  • Creating databases and spreadsheets;
  • Maintaining client websites; and,
  • Administering and analyzing community surveys;
  • Preparing GIS and Illustrator basemaps;
  • Modifying and editing shape files and other GIS data;
  • Data analysis including demographic and market.
