The city offers award-winning schools, state-of-the art medical facilities, a world-class public library, seventy city parks, three lakes, numerous award-winning natural areas, and miles of trails for walking, running, and biking.
Fayetteville ranks on several lists as a top city in the nation, including Livability.com’s ranking of Fayetteville as the 63rd top livable city in the United States, as well as the 9th top college town.
Qualified applicants are asked to electronically submit an application to the City of Fayetteville through the website at www.fayetteville-ar.gov. The position will be open until filled.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the City Planning Director to complete a variety of current and long range city planning activities.
Primary duties consist of reviewing development projects and zoning proposals and presenting items at public hearings such as Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
This position will also contribute to long range planning activities such as neighborhood and city-wide planning efforts, urban design projects, and code drafting to make codes and ordinances consistent with the overall land use goals and policies of the city.
Work is conducted primarily during daytime weekday hours at the City of Fayetteville office in downtown Fayetteville. Some evening work is required to attend and present at bi-weekly or monthly public hearings.
The minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree in a non-related field plus three years directly related experience. Annual salary range is from the mid-30’s to the mid-50’s, commensurate with qualifications.
