Membership and Events Coordinator, Illinois Housing Council - Chicago


Position: Membership and Events Coordinator

Compensation: $35,000 to $40,000 annual salary with benefits; commensurate with experience

Work Hours: Monday Friday, 9am to 5pm; occasional early morning and evening hours required

Location: Most work will take place at the IHC Office at 912 W. Lake St in Chicago; occasional travel throughout Illinois required (primarily in Chicago Metro and Springfield)

Organization Description:
The Illinois Housing Council (IHC) is a state-wide membership organization, created to promote the stabilization of communities through the production and preservation of affordable housing. IHC advances its mission through education, information and constructive relationships with state, local and federal officials. IHC has nearly 200 organizational members including over 950 individuals - consisting of owners, property managers, developers, financial institutions, investors, builders, subcontractors, local government, accountants, civic organizations, market analysts and consultants.
Position Description:
The Membership and Events Coordinator will work directly with the Executive Director. All duties should be performed in adherence to IHC’s mission. Duties include:
  •   Coordinating and overseeing the logistics for IHC Events (Networking Breakfasts, Annual Conference, etc.), including but not limited to: securing venues, ordering food, coordinating with sponsors, producing signage, and managing registration;
  •   Working with the Executive Director to develop content for IHC Events;
  •   Developing website content, performing regular updates to the IHC website, and managing IHC’s
    Facebook and Twitter accounts;
  •   Producing IHC’s regular e-mail updates;
  •   Performing day to day bookkeeping using Quick Books;
  •   Managing IHC member renewals and dues;
  •   Assisting IHC members with inquiries;
  •   Assisting the Executive Director in other day to day operations of IHC;
    Qualifications:
  •   Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Political Science, Business, Communications or a related field
  •   Strong research, writing and synthesis skills
  •   Strong communications skills
  •   Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Experience with Quick Books and Word Press preferred
  •   Experience in event planning preferred
  •   Ability to work independently
  •   Interest in affordable housing
