Pre-Awards Sponsored Projects Specialist, Office of Social Science Research, UIC - Chicago

The Office of Social Science Research at the University of Illinois at
Chicago seeks highly qualified and motivated candidates for the position of
Pre-Awards Sponsored Projects Specialist. This is a full-time academic
professional position.



*Responsibilities:*

The selected candidate will be able to perform professional level pre-award
duties for the social sciences and humanities disciplines of the College of
Liberal Arts and Sciences. The candidate will work with faculty, students,
and staff at UIC and external collaborating institutions to develop and
submit sponsored project proposals to federal, state, and non-profit
sponsors using Fastlane, grants.gov, and other electronic platforms.  These
duties include but are not limited to proposal preparation, creating
budgets and other proposal related documents, ensuring that applications
are completed according to sponsor requirements and the FOA/ RFP, and
problem-solving submission issues. Other duties will include developing and
teaching grantsmanship workshops, developing resources for investigators,
managing and updating content of the OSSR website and listserv, working
collaboratively to develop policies and procedures for OSSR, and performing
other duties as assigned.



*Qualifications*:

·      A Bachelor's Degree in a Social Science or related field is required;
a Master's Degree with academic coursework in grant proposal development pre
ferred.

·      Five years pre-awards development experience in a social science disc
ipline, OR Certifications as a Certified Research Administrator, Certified
Pre Awards Research Administrator, or Certification in Project Management pr
eferred.

·      Knowledge of grant submission electronic platforms, OMB Circulars
A-21 and A-133 preferred.

·      Strong communication, teaching, and organizational skills are a must.

·      Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and Acrobat Professional.
