Program/Student Advisor (Associate Director Visitors Center) Recruitment VPAES

The UIC Office of Recruitment is seeking a Program/Student Advisor (Visitors Center Associate Director). This position designs, implements and evaluates campus visits programs and special projects contributing to a positive campus visit experience using customer service protocols, university policies, and procedures and requirements of multiple academic programs.


Duties:

*         Collaborate with Director of Recruitment and college leaders to develop recruitment plan.

*         Assist in the development of the annual recruitment budget.

*         Develop and execute a comprehensive campus visitors plan for the Visitors Center that includes daily presentations, group visits, student ambassadors, walk in visitors and prospective transfer students, to encourage them to apply and enroll.

*         Develop best practices for campus visits; provide resources to the greater campus community.

*         Development and maintenance of recruitment presentations.

*         Manage and coordinate programming for campus tours, Preview Days and Open House events.

*         Review program evaluation data to ensure a positive campus visit experience.

*         Serve as a primary speaker during high profile recruitment and public relations events.

*         Travel locally and nationally to represent UIC at recruitment and student yield events.

*         Provide administrative oversight of the Guaranteed Admission Transfer (GAT) partnership program with the City Colleges of Chicago, and the Transfer Student Assistance unit.

*         Develop Web and print content to promote the Visitors Center and campus visit opportunities.

*         Oversee the continued development of the Student Ambassadors to act as tour guides for campus and group visits, student panels and student telecounseling.

*         Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.

*         Train all recruitment staff, including counselors and student workers, on all functions related to the Visitors Center.

*         Develop training programs for recruitment staff, and student workers, on presentation and other interpersonal communication strategies.

*         Regular travel not expected but may occur occasionally during peak travel season of the recruitment cycle.


Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
1.   Bachelor's degree.
2.   Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required.
3.   One or more years of experience in student counseling, admissions and/or university student activities or recreations programs.
4.   Demonstrated professional experience supervising staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

*         Master's degree and five years' experience in enrollment management, with experience managing professional staff and student workers. Strong presentation, verbal and written communication, management and leadership skills.

*         Power Point Presentation development and creation experience is a plus. Excellent HR, space and resource management and supervisory skills.

*         Knowledge of university policies and procedures, FERPA regulations, application evaluation and admission review.

*         Membership in professional organizations such as Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling, the National Association for College Admissions Counseling or other professional organizations.
