URBAN DESIGNER / ARCHITECT

Farr Associates is an architecture, planning and urban design firm dedicated to creating “sustainable human environments.” We practice at the cutting edge of building and neighborhood sustainability, producing work that readily earns recognition. We are the AIA Chicago Firm of the Year and have received a rich array of national and regional awards in green building, architecture, preservation and urban design. We have designed 7 LEED Platinum buildings two of which were also designed to achieve Net-Zero Energy and wrote two books of global influence:Sustainable Urbanism: Urban Design with NatureandLiving Cities: Transforming APEC’s Cities into Models of Sustainable Development by 2030.
And we are just getting started. We want to grow and are seeking an Urban Designer.
Qualifications
The chosen candidate will possess these traits:
- Smart, strategic, highly organized, self-starter, who shares the firm’s vision
- Good communication, writing and editing skills
- A minimum of five years of experience working in arch and urban design fields
- Excellent presentation preparation skills (Hand-sketching, InDesign, Prezi, Powerpoint, Adobe Suite)
- Excellent 3D computer modeling skills (Sketch Up, Revit)
- Proficiency in technical design and analysis tools (Revit, GIS)
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (minimum), M-Arch / M-UD preferred
- Proven collaborative project team experience
- Site Planning experience
- Construction document drawing experience
- IDP in progress (Architectural Registration preferred)
- LEED AP BD+C or ND (preferred)
Preference will be given to candidates with project management and affordable housing experience.
