The City of Raleigh, NC is searching for a dynamic leader with strong communication and collaboration skills to lead our new Development Services Department. Raleigh currently coordinates all development and building plan review and inspection services within our Planning Department. Due to increased growth and development and Raleigh’s commitment to providing efficient and quality services, City Council has approved a reorganization beginning July 1, 2015 that creates a new Development Services Department and a new position to lead this team.
The City is searching for that special individual who is interested in this unique opportunity to work with an outstanding team to establish and build our new Development Services Department. If you have significant development and management experience, have a history of successfully partnering with developers, architects and engineers to achieve quality and timely project approvals and can provide innovative solutions to problems, Raleigh encourages you to apply for the Director of Development Services.
The Director of Development Services will report to an Assistant City Manager and oversee the following areas within Development Services: Administration, Development Plans Review, Inspections and the Customer Service Center. The department will begin with approximately 100 employees and its own budget.
At least 10 years of experience in local government land review process, development, engineering management, building and construction, inspections or related fields is required. Applicants may substitute additional relevant education for the required experience. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration or equivalent field. Applicants may substitute additional relevant experience for the required education.
