Department Background: The Campus Planning Office manages all major efforts that impact the overall physical campus from initial land use physical planning through project design and construction under the leadership of the University Architect. This office ensures projects are properly integrated with the overall Campus Master Plan. This unique role jointly works with Transportation Services. This department provides leadership in developing and implementing comprehensive, economical, flexible, efficient, and sustainable programs to facilitate the movement of people, vehicles, mail, and packages.

Key Responsibilities: The Senior Transportation Planner supports the University Planner and Senior Director of Transportation, providing high-level planning support for campus master planning, facility site planning, and community transportation projects. The Senior Transportation Planner works with colleagues in the Campus Planning Office, Transportation Services, Project Administration, and the university in carrying out a broad range of planning initiatives to ensure the university’s transportation needs are proactively addressed in the physical development of the campus. Responsibilities include planning efforts focused on multi-modal transportation options, planning associated with department-specific master plans, planning associated with a specific building projects regarding access and transportation needs and Transportation Services Department projects to support university-wide sustainability and traffic reduction efforts.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, or related field at least five years of transportation and land use planning, planning multi-modal transportation systems, or other relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience dealing with municipal issues, preparing planning analyses and documents, and presentations required. Excellent graphic, organizational, writing, and analytical skills are necessary, as well as the ability to create and make presentations to a wide variety of audiences and the public.
- Expertise with both analytical and graphic software, as well as experience and facility with GIS, database, and desktop publishing and business software.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree desirable.
- More than five years of relevant experience, particularly with transportation planning in a university or municipal environment, Transportation Demand Management (TDM) and Trip Reduction Strategies (TRS); urban and site design skills as they relate to transportation systems for bikes, transit, vehicles, and pedestrians, as well as issues relating to access, circulation, and parking is preferred.
