In this role the Specialist will be responsible for supporting the company waste diversion and food waste reduction goals, by working with operations, warehouses, buying teams, donation partners, waste haulers, and industry partners. The ideal candidate will be able to help manage multiple waste projects at once, collaborate with stakeholders, and analyze various internal reports. In addition, experience and knowledge working with different waste streams will be very beneficial, as well as having an educational background in sustainability or project management. The objective of this role is to support ALDI’s waste efforts by improving existing programs, and finding new opportunities to divert and reduce waste.

This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with leadership to make decisions on products based on Corporate Responsibility standards, handle escalated social and environmental issues, and promote efficient implementation of department initiatives.
• Informs management of impending legislative, sustainability, and social matters.
• Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility.
• Supports direct leader in the training of new employees.
• Manages reporting requirements for all teams by working with the appropriate managers and assistants to ensure accurate submission to stakeholders.
• Maintains Corporate Responsibility programs and procedures in conjunction with management.
• Conducts extensive research within area of responsibility and creates reports/summaries on the appropriate course of action to take.
• Analyzes data and makes recommendations to leadership on new programs that could be implemented to address emerging trends.
• Develops and maintains knowledge and understanding of Corporate Responsibility industry trends.
• Maintains full knowledge of, and supports further development of, the company’s Corporate Responsibility policies, goals, and key performance indicators (national and international).
• Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.
• Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility.

Education and Experience:
• Associate's Degree in Sustainability, Project Management, Business, Economics, Sustainability, Supply Chain or a related field required.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Corporate Responsibility required.
• Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
• Work is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform duties.
• Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
• Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.
• Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Travel:
• Domestic travel required.
