Housing Development Associate - DL3 - Chicago

Role: Associate, Housing Developer Department: Development 

Salary Range: Competitive 

Location: Chicago Loop 

Reports to: Director of Partnerships and Residential Investments (DPRI)

THE ROLE  

We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our urban development team to further housing and placemaking activities such as Thrive Exchange (https://www.thrive.exchange/) and Thrive Englewood (https://blockclubchicago.org/2022/05/26/a-108-unit-affordable-housing-development-could-be-coming-to-englewoods 63rd-street-corridor/). Work directly with DL3’s Director of Partnerships and Residential Investments  http://www.dl3realty.com/team to execute end-to-end development process with responsibilities including but not  limited to underwriting, financing, deal structuring, loan document review, project management, asset management.  High opportunity for professional growth and to make a difference in the quality of life in historically disinvested  communities. 

THE TEAM MEMBER (YOU!) 

Have experience with real estate fundamentals, especially tax credit underwriting, also architecture, urban planning  or construction.  

Demonstrated Excel skills financial modeling experience 

Excellent writing and speaking skills 

Detail oriented with ability to track and manage complex processes; ability to anticipate problems and  roadblocks 

Self-starter; able to work independently, multitask and use good judgement in prioritizing tasks Poised and well spoken; adept at collaborating with team members 

Able to clearly articulate information to help inform and shape decision making 

Enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.  


Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred masters degrees include Business (concentration in Real Estate), Urban  Planning, Architecture, Engineering or Juris Doctor degree in Law. Minimum of 3 years of experience in residential  or multifamily real estate, design, construction, engineering, law or related field.
