Operations Analysts
The City of Chicago’s Office of Budget and Management
is seeking Principal Operations Analysts who will, under general supervision,
functions as a technical expert or team leader in the design and conduct of a
broad range of studies to improve operations, and performs related duties as
required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- As hands-on creators, designs and maintains reports and dashboards for City-wide studies
- Meets with managers to identify the scope of problems and define the objectives of studies
- Exhibits technical expertise, capable of developing automated processes and complex flows to build front-end analytics.
- Interfaces with senior leadership, program managers, and external stakeholders to identify, evaluate and define opportunities for improved efficiency, cost-savings and process improvements
- Develops work plans and data collection processes for achieving study objectives
- Designs clear, useful, and accessible visualizations that evaluate complex systems, pulling out needed information for decision makers.
- Researches techniques, methods, and processes to obtain information on specific areas under review
- Works in coordination with managers and IT staff across city departments to establish access and connections to data management and enterprise systems throughout the city.
- Constructs complex mathematical models and uses computer applications to evaluate data
- Provides data-driven recommendations to solve business problems.
- Develops and presents new or revised processes, procedures, and work standards to managers
- In coordination with subject matter experts, establishes key performance indicators and benchmarks for tracking and monitoring through advanced analytics.
- Works with managers and consultants in program implementation
- Designs computer applications to automate manual processes, as required
- Defines specifications for consultants responsible for designing programs that will replace manual operations
- Facilitates training for staff to ensure successful use and adoption of data analytics reporting

Days: Monday-Friday
Hours: 9.a.m. to 5 p.m.
Salary: $75,852.00/year

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a
Master's degree plus two years of work experience in operations analysis,
project management, strategic planning, program auditing or business management
consulting OR a Bachelor’s degree plus three years of work experience in
operations analysis, project management, strategic planning, program auditing
or business management consulting or an equivalent combination of education,
training and experience provided the minimum degree requirement is met.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an
interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications
best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the
following:
- Experience
with data analysis and creating reports
- Experience
with Excel, Tableau, Power BI and other data analytics tools
