Research Assistant, Part-Time, Chicago

We are cultivating a portfolio of disruptive companies that bring new solutions to critical urban problems. We are looking to bring on a few part-time research assistants who can help us in our critical thinking around these issues. 

Job Title: Research Assistant

Hours: 10-15 per week
Compensation: $15 per hour
Location: Merchandise Mart, Chicago, IL

Responsibilities: Ekistic seeks research assistants with diverse substantive backgrounds to work on
a range of projects involving disruptive technologies that have the potential to
improve quality of life in cities. Work will range from preliminary research into
promising ideas and sectors, to detailed vetting of potential investments, to longterm
projects that help strengthen portfolio companies. Most of this diligence is
thematic rather than financial. Expect to work fluidly with the small team, where
everyone adds input based on their own varied backgrounds and expertise.
Potential themes include public safety and justice reform, health and wellness,
local food production and distribution, data analytics, cyber-security applications,
the internet of things (IOT), urban transportation systems, blockchain, and
preserving affordable housing.

Qualifications: Research or work experience in urban policy, venture capital and/or finance;
proficient with Google apps, professional writing skills, relevant experience.
