Managing Director, Waukegan, IL


 MANAGING DIRECTOR 

The Waukegan Housing Authority (WHA) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Managing Director. WHA, located in Waukegan, Illinois, assists 448 public housing units that it owns and operates. Our portfolio includes Public Family Housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, VASH and Family Unification Vouchers. WHA owns and operates 138 senior/disabled units as well as other properties and assistance programs. WHA has been recognized by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as a “High Performer” in both its public housing and voucher program management. 

The Board of Commissioners seeks an accomplished leader dedicated to efficiently managing federal and local resources and providing affordable and attractive living environments for those of modest means. The person in this position will report to the Executive Director/CEO. The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in business/public administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field, as well as seven years of progressive public or private housing or public sector management experience involving finance, planning, administrative and operational management and supervision. Knowledge of HUD programs, policies, and procedures is preferred. 

The Managing Director will be responsible for leading, cultivating and facilitating the agency’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. The successful candidate must be able to prove prior housing industry success, significant financial and budgetary experience, mixed-finance and redevelopment knowledge and strong strategic planning skills. Salary and terms are negotiable within a specified salary range, depending on qualifications (DOQ). In addition, benefits are provided which include: participation in the Securian retirement system, ten days of annual leave per year, one day of personal leave annually, and 12 days of sick leave annually, thirteen paid holidays; medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
