Community Facilitation and Engagement Lead - Dubuque Forward

Title: Community Facilitation and Engagement Lead 

Type: full-time

Location: Dubuque, IA

Salary Range: $50,000-$70,000

SummaryDubuque Forward seeks a highly organized, people-centered Community Facilitation & Engagement Lead to strengthen implementation capacity, community coordination, and day-to-day organizational operations. This role works side by side with the Downtown Strategy & Partnerships Lead to advance downtown placemaking and collaborative projects and reports directly into the Board Chair.

The Community Facilitation & Engagement Lead serves as the organization’s primary facilitator and operational backbone, ensuring that Passion Teams, working groups, and community partners are well-supported, meetings are productive, and projects move forward efficiently. This position balances facilitation, administration, and implementation support, helping translate strategy into sustained action. This role also supports Dubuque Forward’s fundraising and grant development efforts by coordinating information, facilitating collaboration with Board members and volunteer committees, and assisting with proposal development and reporting.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in public administration, nonprofit management, community development, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings or working groups with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with community initiatives, nonprofit organizations, or civic engagement efforts (preferred).
  • Knowledge of and experience using CRM systems to manage contacts, engagement tracking, and communications (preferred).
  • Familiarity with facilitation techniques, consensus-building, and group process design.
  • Experience supporting project management or implementation work.
  • Comfort working with digital tools for scheduling, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, grant writing, or donor engagement efforts in a nonprofit or community-based organization (preferred).
