This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).
Summary: In this role the Corporate Responsibility Specialist - Operational Waste will support the administration of various waste reduction and recycling efforts. From new recycling programs and waste reduction pilots to waste audit analysis and diversion reporting, this Specialist will work with internal stakeholders, service providers and program partners to drive progress towards ALDI goals. The ideal candidate will exhibit strengths in program management, liaising with partners, project development, streamlining processes and data integrity, and have a comprehensive understanding of various waste management practices. A background in environmental sciences, sustainability, logistics or facilities management is preferred. The objective of this role is to help ALDI become a leader in materials management by achieving zero waste in operations by 2025 and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Collaborates with leadership to make operational decisions based on Corporate Responsibility standards, handle escalated social and environmental issues, and promote efficient implementation of department initiatives.
- Informs management of impending legislative, sustainability, and social matters.
- Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility.
- Supports direct leader in the training of new employees.
- Manages waste reporting requirements by working with the appropriate managers and assistants to ensure accurate submission to stakeholders.
- Maintains Corporate Responsibility programs and procedures in conjunction with management.
- Conducts extensive research within area of responsibility and creates reports/summaries on the appropriate course of action to take.
- Analyzes data and makes recommendations to leadership on new programs that could be implemented to address emerging trends.
- Develops and maintains knowledge and understanding of Corporate Responsibility industry trends.
- Maintains full knowledge of, and supports further development of, the company’s Corporate Responsibility policies, goals, and key performance indicators (national and international).
- Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.
- Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility.

Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Economics, Supply Chain or a related field required.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Corporate Responsibility required.
- Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
- Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties.
- Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
- Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.
- Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Travel:
- Domestic travel required.
