JOB TITLE:   

Associate Director, Center for Business and Economic Analysis (CBEA) 

JOB PURPOSE:   

Work with the Director of the CBEA in the UW College of Business to manage and execute projects for stakeholders.

CBEA Mission

The CBEA was founded in 2019 and supports the economic growth and diversification of Wyoming’s economy through applied economic and business analytics for communities, industries, and entrepreneurs.  Our mission is to:  provide professional economic insight about Wyoming; undertake economic impact assessments; conduct specialized analyses, studies, and projects, including guidance for investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs; and study and disseminate population demographic and workforce conditions to support regional development.  The CBEA will be the trusted destination resource for information about Wyoming’s economy, empower robust economic growth and diversification, serve as a bridge of engagement between the University of Wyoming and the broader state community, and be recognized nationally as a premier organization amongst its peers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Associate Director will manage projects for the CBEA. The successful candidate will work with the Director to execute projects and communicate regularly with local economic development groups. Responsibilities also include continuing development and marketing of the Center; assisting government agencies and firms with analysis of local, state, and national business and economic conditions; interacting with local, state, and national media with respect to economic conditions and policies in the region; executing economic impact projects and other specialized projects; and all other related duties as assigned. Fulfilling these responsibilities may require occasional travel to meet with clients and travel throughout Wyoming to assist the Director with presentations or attended events.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:  

Other projects and duties as necessary for the Center.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Master’s degree or higher in Economics or related field.
Explicit knowledge of standard econometric software, such as R, Python, and Stata.
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

Knowledge of and experience with software for economic impact analyses, such as IMPLAN or REMI
PhD in Economics or related field
Knowledge of Wyoming’s economy and the energy industry
Excellent applied research skills
A documented ability to effectively communicate verbally and orally to diverse audiences about complex topics involving data
Prior experience working cooperatively with government agencies and private industry
