Planner, Visualization Specialist - Connetics Transportation Group

About the Position

As a member of our transit service planning team, the Planner I supports a wide range of projects including comprehensive operational analyses and system redesigns, transit development plans, corridor studies for major capital investment projects, and other short and long-range service planning studies. Examples of tasks you will accomplish on any given day includedesigning transit routes and developing service plans, creating travel time models for new fixed guide way projects, or analyzing various datasets to formulate service recommendations. As a small firm, we are uniquely suited to provide ample opportunity for on-the-job learning and career development.About YouOur most successful planners are adept at utilizing a variety of analytical tools and methods to solve complex problems in the mobility space. Below are our desired qualifications for this role.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in transit/transportation planning, transit scheduling,and/or engineering(or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ArcGIS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Additional Requirements (While not required to apply, experience in one or more of the following skill sets is highly desired)
  • Desktop Publishing / Graphic Design: AdobeCreative Suite(InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Transit Scheduling: Trapeze and/or HASTUS software
  • Data Analysis: Advanced Excel, Access,R, or Python
  • Data Visualization: Tableau, R Shiny, PowerBI

Visualization Specialist

The Visualization Specialist position is best suited for those who seek to be challenged creatively, enjoy solving complex problems, and wish to lead visualization efforts on project and marketing efforts across the country. This exciting opportunity provides varying day-to-day responsibilities including:
  • Producing graphics/infographics, maps, presentations, documents, and other materials in support of CTG’s transportation planning projects.
  • Assisting with business development and marketing activities,including the development of proposal documents, presentations, and print and digital marketing materials.
  • Managing our firm’s visual brand, ensuring design consistency across our deliverables, marketing collateral, and digital platforms.
  • Assisting with CTG’s social media and outreach strategy.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role has a passion for using their creative skill set to translate complex ideas and information into attractive, professional, and user-friendly visual graphics. The successful candidate will be a creative, highly-organized, self-starter with a collaborative spirit and an eye for design.

Specific requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts,marketing, transportation, engineering, urban planning, or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
  • Experience creating stylistic graphics, maps, and marketing materials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • General understanding of GIS programs a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual)
  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks, tight deadlines,and make independent decisions
  • Interest in working on projects concerning urban mobility, sustainability, and the built environment
