What: The OECD’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities is hiring a short-term consultant to contribute to a research project on global urbanization. The project aims at providing a comprehensive overview of global urbanization since 1975 using a new and innovative dataset of all cities across the world. Working in a team with several economists/policy analysts, the selected candidate will be expected to contribute to the project through:
- Conducting econometric analyses describing the evolution of cities across the world over time
- Creating charts, figures and maps visualising the data
- Drafting documents describing the results, including sections of the final report
- Preparing presentations, talking points and speeches describing the analyses
- Organising events related to the project
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have:
- Experience in conducting quantitative research and writing academic papers
- Proven ability to draft clearly and concisely
- Advanced knowledge of modern microeconometric methods and substantial experience applying them in Stata or R
- Experience in working with spatial/remote sensing data or knowledge of urban economics
- Completed PhD or PhD studies at an advanced stage in economics, economic geography or a related discipline. Alternatively: Master’s degree and several years of comparable experience working on relevant research projects
- In-depth knowledge of urban economics and related fields
- Significant experience using GIS to analyse data and produce maps for publications
- Experience in data visualisation
- Experience in drafting policy reports or other publications that aim at communicating complex issues to a non-expert audience
