Graduate Elementary & Secondary Education Programs Associate: University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Education

The College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time Programs Associate who will serve as an academic and support systems advisor to graduate elementary and secondary education students. The Programs Associate will assist in the admissions processes of both programs; plan and facilitate orientation sessions in both programs; assist with placement of students in school settings where they will conduct internships and student teach; work with mentor teachers in local schools and provide individualized training, as needed, for mentoring teacher candidates; visit classrooms where teacher candidates are conducting their fieldwork; coordinate, conduct, and supervise all exit interviews; counsel graduating students on job placements; collect data on graduates from both programs.

B.A. degree is required; M.A. degree is preferred. Three years experience in teaching, counseling/advising, and/or program management experience is preferred. Must have the ability and skills to work effectively, collaboratively, and with great personal initiative in the implementation of program services for students/teacher candidates, teachers and administrators, and university faculty. Must have knowledge of teacher education and/or student counseling and confidence to represent the two programs at local and state-wide meetings and conferences. Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills are required. Must demonstrate attention to detail, excellence in leading groups, and resourcefulness. Web design, other technology-related skills, and knowledge of Banner and TADA systems are highly desirable.
