Executive Assistant - Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to the Executive Director and other senior staff. CMAP is a mission-driven agency serving the 284 municipalities and 7 counties of northeastern Illinois as the region’s comprehensive planning organization.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Assists in coordinating agenda materials and facilitates cross-divisional coordination and meeting scheduling 
  • Manages complex calendars, arranges for meetings, appointments, travel and accommodations for the Executive Director and other assigned staff as needed.
  • Prioritizes inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts with little guidance; makes judgements and recommendations to ensure smooth daytoday engagements. 
  • Maintains internal processes that support the Executive Director and team by coordinating internal and external resources to expedite workflows. 
  • Attend meetings and takes notes of discussion; prepares initial draft minutes, summaries, organizes draft follow-up materials, communicates follow-up items, and schedules follow-ups as necessary. 
  • Drafts, reviews, and sends communications on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Maintains records, documents, and agendas for the Executive Director’s meetings, steering committees, commissions, and other priority initiatives.

Physical Requirements

Associate Planner - Gurnee, IL

The Village of Gurnee is seeking qualified applicants for the entry level position of Associate Planner within the Community Development Department. With new and exciting projects coming to Gurnee, this position will have the opportunity to work closely with businesses, developers and Planning Officials to achieve organizational and strategic goals while gaining experience in the industry! 

This position is responsible for professional planning work related to land use and municipal development.  The selected candidate will complete a variety of routine and complex assignments pertaining to the implementation of current and long range planning programs.  Under supervision, the candidate will also coordinate and implement the subdivision, planned unit development, and related current and long-range zoning processes. 

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited college or university as well as knowledge of planning principles, zoning laws and ordinances. Experience using GIS applications is required. 

The salary range for this position is $74,715.76-102,254.04, hiring salary range is based on qualifications and experience. This is a professional position covered under a collective bargaining agreement which includes competitive health, vision and dental benefits at no cost to the employee. This position also includes paid vacation, sick and personal time as well as participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement (IMRF) Fund Pension Plan.

2025 Leadership Fellow - Port Authority of New York & New Jersey

The application for the 2025 Leadership Fellow Program is open. This is a two-year rotational program that allows Fellows to experience four different business functions at Port Authority.

 

The 2025 program is open to graduate-level students who are graduating between December 2024 and June 2025. The program starts in the beginning of July 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position with a yearly salary and benefits. After successful completion of the program, Fellows are considered for key roles throughout Port Authority. As of 2024, we have 100+ alumni still working at the agency.

Senior Planner - Gurnee, IL

The Village of Gurnee seeks an experienced Planner ready to take their career to the next level as the Village’s Senior Planner.  

The selected candidate will be responsible for professional planning and project management work related to land use and municipal development. The candidate will have a variety of routine and complex assignments pertaining to the implementation of current and long range planning programs. This position reviews development and redevelopment proposals including subdivision, site plan, variance requests, plat, and other development documents. The selected candidate will assist the Planning Administrator and Community Development Director and in the interpretation and enforcement of applicable Village codes, development standards, design guidelines, and the comprehensive plan.

The City of Madison is hiring a Transportation Planner 2 or 3*!

This position is responsible for professional transportation planning work within the Regional Transportation Planning Section of the City of Madison’s Planning Division, which provides staff for the Greater Madison MPO under the policy direction of the MPO Policy Board. The work implements the MPO’s adopted vision, mission and goals as reflected in the MPO’s long-range Regional Transportation Plan and other plans and documents, such as the Public Participation Plan. 

About the Position

This is senior level transportation planning work characterized by a high level of initiative, discretion, and leadership, preparing plans and special studies and annual performance measure monitoring. Under general supervision of the Transportation Planning Manager, the work requires a high degree of independence, and involves leadership in program, plan, and policy development and internal process improvements. 


Minimum Qualifications

·         Two (2) years of professional planning experience pertinent to the position, similar to that of a Planner 1 at the City of Madison.  

·         Bachelors Degree in Urban Studies, Urban/Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, and other related studies or programs.  

If an applicant does not possess the specific requirements outlined above, Human Resources will review the application materials to determine if the applicant possesses the following equivalent experience:

Four (4) years experience in applying the following:

·         Land use and transportation planning process.
