The Village of Oak Park is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Neighborhood Services Supervisor. The Neighborhood Services Division is part of the Department of
Development Customer Services.

Description of Oak Park:
The Village of Oak Park, Illinois is a thriving, transit-oriented community of about 52,000 people located immediately west of the City of Chicago and known for its great neighborhoods, architectural heritage and innovative public policy initiatives. Within its 4.5 square miles live one of the region's most diverse mixes of cultures, races, ethnicities, professions, lifestyles, religions, ages and incomes.

Oak Park operates under the village manager form of government. An elected legislative board consisting of a president and six trustees set policy and a professional manager oversees the day-to-day administration of government. Village services and programs are delivered by about 370 employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Position include, but are not limited to:

• Plans, directs, reviews and performs complex assignments involved with the enforcement of the Village’s property maintenance code, Village’s single family rehabilitation and multifamily operations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Assists with hearings to resolve enforcement problems; prepares case reports for court or administrative proceedings, testify in court and at administrative proceedings as necessary. 
• Inspect commercial and residential buildings to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations, inspect existing buildings for change of us, occupancy, or compliance with applicable codes and ordinance.
• Inspect buildings damaged by fire or water, determine if occupancy should be restricted, restoration, or demolition action should be taken. 
• Completes the most complex residential inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations. 
• Monitors (Measure, Analyze, Perform) Performance Management indicators for the housing and property maintenance inspection programs, and reports on progress to the Neighborhood Services Manager within established deadlines.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications with Salary Range and Benefits: 

Qualified candidates will have

• At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in code enforcement, civil engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, or similar field from an accredited college or University 
• Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license and safe driving record
• Possession or ability to obtain the International Code Council (ICC) Certification for the International Property Maintenance Code within one (1) year of employment, and maintain necessary certifications and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during the course of the position.

Salary Range: $60,000-$85,000 Depending of Qualifications
