  • Evaluates, resolves, and reconciles case assignment discrepancies credited to private agency foster case contracts. 
  • Provides data compilation and/or entry for case searches, case or provider status/history, and special projects as requested by the Deputy Director, Associate Deputy Director, Division Business Manager, or other appropriate staff; mediates payment issues between the Department and private agencies. 
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance in overall data entry support to Divisional staff as well as Purchase of Service staff, to include instruction on rules and procedures regarding payment systems, case opening and case closing, procedures and utilization of DCFS mainframe database functions and computer software. 
  • Maintains responsibility for more difficult assignment determinations, research, and investigative work and problem solving. 
  • Researches prior home segments to determine if additional emergency placement is allowed, extended, or if it must revert back to a regular board payment rate. 
  • Serves as primary contact for agency downsizing and closings. 
  • Monitors and maintains data for Case Management Monthly Travel Report. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, and one year of office experience, or completion of high school and three years of office experience, or three years of independent business experience. 
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Family Advocacy Outreach Coordinator, DCFS - Chicago, IL

 

Essential Functions

The Illinois Department of Children &Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Cook County/Northern Region Family Advocacy Center Outreach Coordinator. Subject to Management approval, this position will plan, conceptualize, monitor, and coordinate the Departments outreach activities for Family Advocacy Centers (FAC) with assigned regions. The position will monitor program services provided to children and families who are Department involved and receiving community-based services to ensure Department policies and procedures are effectively and consistently implemented. The position will also conduct contract compliance, program monitoring, and/or fiscal management reviews of assigned providers to ensure compliance with contract terms & address program plan performance outcomes. Advocacy Specialist, DCFS - Springfield, IL

 

Position Summary

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Advocacy Specialist. Subject to management approval, this position will manage case situations which are made directly or referred to the Advocacy Office involving complaints, problems, concerns, questions, requests for service and information, and clarification of laws, policies, and procedures. The position will conduct research and analyze case situations, designing activities to correct problems and resolve issues. This position will also provide immediate intervention on specific cases that are brought to the attention of the Director’s Office from a variety of sources.   • Identifies and assesses specific issues requiring the attention of the Inspector General
  • Collaborates with the Office of Education and Transition Services regarding Youth Advisory Board (YAB)
  • Utilizes interpersonal communication skills with considerable independence
  • Utilizes computer skills to maintain files, research cases, and obtain necessary data to assess and strategize case situations
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of a master’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience analyzing and reviewing case situations in a public or private social welfare agency
  • 2 years of experience conducting an official complaint and problem resolution process in a public or private organization
  • 2 years of experience conducting research in a public or private organization
  • 2 years of experience in a public or private organization utilizing thorough knowledge of the structure, organization, and methods of social welfare institutions
  • 2 years of experience in a public or private organization utilizing advanced technical ability to analyze and evaluate programs and operations
