Equity Coordinator, ANDALE

Who: ANDALE @ Oakton Community College

What: The Equity Coordinator for ANDALE is a professional within the Office of Access, Equity, and Diversity and responsible for developing and implementing critical initiatives designed to support the college's LatinX student population. Additionally, this position supports the functions of the Office of Access Equity and Diversity (OAED) and the Center for Campus Inclusion and Diversity (CCID).

Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities

·         Provide day-to-day implementation of the ANDALE program.

·         Plan, implement, and assess program components and services.

·         Coordinate meetings of the ANDALE steering committee.

·         Manage the financial resources of ANDALE with assistance from OAED staff.

·         Develop online and print resources to market the programs and services that ensure events are adequately publicized to maximize participation.

·         Facilitate collaborative partnerships with faculty and other departments to execute program components.

·         Communicate with LatinX students regularly during the academic year about student success opportunities.

·         Assist in the planning and execution of educational programs and campus events that promote a diverse intellectual and social environment.

·         Serve as a resource person for students, faculty and staff for issues pertinent to the Hispanic/Latino community.

·         Maintain ANDALE marketing and media presence, including web pages and social media.

·         Coordinate academic, co-curricular, and campus educational efforts that centralizes the unique and complex experiences of LatinX student population.

·         Create new initiatives, which identify and connect to current local, national, and global equity-related trends and issues, with particular attention being paid to anti-racism, anti-bias, and student organizational development.

·         Coordinate program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives with the intention of identifying and closing equity gaps for the LatinX student population at Oakton.

·         Coordinate organizational presence and participation at identified campus-wide enrollment events and programs (i.e. Student Orientation, Admitted, LatinX Teen College Success Program, Commencement, OSLCI departmental initiatives, etc.).

·         Submit an annual report to the AVP at the conclusion of the academic year.

·         Develop partnerships with existing campus initiatives serving traditionally underrepresented student populations (i.e. TRIO, Service Learning, Financial Aid, etc.).

·         Empower student leaders to plan, develop, and execute cultural celebrations and social justice programming.

·         Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution (or expected completion by May 2021), or an equivalent combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required.

·         Experience in diversity training/education initiatives.

·         Knowledge and experience with programming initiatives and support services related to diversity, inclusion and student development theory.

·         Knowledge of past and current social trends affecting marginalized/non-majority students.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Fluency in Spanish.

·         2-3 years of experience in higher education or related field.

·         Master's degree in in Counseling Psychology, Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field.

·         Experience with advising and counseling students and recognized student organizations.

·         Experience with leading or coordinating campus-wide student success initiatives.

·         Academic and/or student development advising.

Policy Analyst - DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference

Senior Planner/Project Manager - Village of Orland Park

Who: Village of Orland Park

In addition, Orland Park has received a number of accolades including: ranked as one of the Best Places to Live by Chicago Magazine (2013), named Village of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago (2014) and the 9750 on the Park Transit Oriented Development was named Best Building by the Congress for New Urbanism, Illinois Chapter.

Key Responsibilities

Our Development Services Department seeks a Senior Planner/Project Manager to join our team and initiate and carry out complex comprehensive planning studies related to economic development, transportation, historical preservation, land use, and environmental issues; perform research, collect and analyze data, utilizing forecasting techniques when necessary; provide technical and professional recommendations in solving present and future development problems; answer inquiries related to land development and complete other special planning functions. This position will also coordinate with related project participants regarding the timely review, approval and completion of new development or re-development projects.

In addition, this position researches, collects, reorganizes and analyzes information pertaining to updating ordinances; obtains input from staff, residents and officials relating to ordinance revisions, recommends revisions to the Village Board; prepares reports and graphics. Applies for and follows through on grants.

Advises on the need for plans, plan content, and other policies, advises on the employment of planning and economic development consultants; coordinates the work of consultants, as assigned or as may be required.

Advises citizens, developers, and officials regarding code requirements; schedules petitioners for Plan Commission, Development Services Committee, and Village Board meetings; maintains records of the Plan Commission including case files, agendas, and minutes; conducts/assists orientation sessions for the new members of the Plan Commission.

Makes verbal and graphic presentations to the Village Board, Plan Commission, and Advisory Board; serves in advisory role to parking and traffic; assists with federal, state, and local programs; reviews plans and reports of others; attends staff and committee meetings; attends seminars, workshops, and conferences, in order to maintain professional skills.

Keeps the Director of Development Services and Assistant Director/Transportation Engineering Manager advised of proposed program goals, budget, goal attainment, and problems encountered on comprehensive planning and economic development issues.

Recommends architectural and design guidelines for commercial and industrial projects and reviews architectural design standards.

Performs other duties as assigned which may include providing direction and leadership to some full-time and part-time staff.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, public administration, or related fields. A Master’s degree is highly preferred along with a minimum of five years of progressive urban planning or economic development responsibility in a governmental or consulting environment.

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning with particular emphasis on land use regulations, including but not limited to architectural and special design, residential, commercial, office, and industrial planning, landscaping, site design, environmental policies, economic development, transportation, and population analysis; considerable knowledge of village policies, procedures, ordinances, and resolutions relating to land development; knowledge of historic preservation and intergovernmental cooperation activities; some knowledge of state, county, federal, and Council-Manager forms of government; some knowledge of intergovernmental agencies.

Ability to understand and implement intent of codes; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups; ability to work within time constraints, and to prioritize work; ability to review and analyze development plans and to make recommendations based upon said analysis; ability to prepare plans, reports, and studies; ability to make verbal presentations and to persuade individuals and groups to follow certain courses of action; ability to perform duties with initiative and a minimum amount of supervision; ability to make accurate design drawings and mathematical computations; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to maintain professionalism and objectivity, and to be tactful and courteous in stressful situations.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $73,329 - $102,660 depending on qualifications. This full-time position is eligible for the Village of Orland Park’s comprehensive employee benefits program which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and an employee wellness program. Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are provided along with the option to participate in a 457(b) plan with options through Nationwide, ICMA-RC, Mass Mutual, or AXA Advisors are also available. The Village of Orland Park also provides for paid vacation, personal, sick days, and holidays.
