Who: City of Naperville, IL - Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED) Business Group
What: The Project Manager addresses a variety of short and long-term transportation matters, including but not limited to roadways, bicycles, pedestrians, commuter and downtown parking, and transit. The Project Manager leads and participates in multi-disciplinary project teams, and coordinates with multiple departments and with outside agencies on local and regional transportation projects. The Project Manager reports directly to the Deputy Director. Specific duties include:
Working in a team environment, the Transportation Project Manager is responsible for conducting transportation studies and plans, managing parking programs, and addressing resident, business and property owner concerns related to traffic and transportation. Additional responsibilities include providing support to City boards and commissions, and coordinating and maintaining relationships with regional transportation partners, such as Metra, Pace, the RTA, the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, counties, and other municipalities.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban planning, public administration, or a related transportation field is required. One or more years of progressively responsible transportation engineering or transportation planning work experience is also required. Preference may be given to candidates who possess an Illinois Professional Engineer license and/or a Professional Transportation Planner certification. A valid State of Illinois Driver's License is also required.
Desired candidates will possess strong analytical and communication skills, and strong knowledge of project management principles. Also important to this position are computer skills, familiarity with local, state and Federal transportation funding programs, and experience in report preparation.
