The Research Manager provides key biographical and financial information about
alumni, parents, and friends of the University that is useful to the
University'advancement personnel as they create donation strategies and cultivate and
solicit donors. Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the
Research Manager is a key member of the fundraising team, working closely with staff
of the Institutional Advancement Office who are actively seeking major gifts from
individuals.

3+ years of experience prospect research experience, preferably in higher education
Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and Research Point.
Well-developed writing and research skills and excellent computer skills, including a
superior knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Knowledge of internet s'earch strategies and familiarity with online subscription services
such as LexisNexis.
Ability to gather, manipulate, retrieve, analyze, and synthesize information from a
variety of sources.
Previous experience working with gift pyramids.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and high comfort level with meeting short
deadlines.
In-depth knowledge of Raiser's Edge and Research Point required.

Job is largely active, and there is a need to move about the office and outside of the
buildings occasionally. Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided.
Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less
than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of laptop computer is required,
calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate to high level of
stress.

Duty and Responsibility Identify and provide initial assessment of new prospects capable of significant financial
support to Roosevelt.

Provide ongoing evaluation of previously identified prospects.
Monitor and use a variety of online, electronic, and printed sources to identify and
qualify new prospective donors and create clear, concise and detailed prospect profiles.

Oversee the prospect management process, including updating prospect coding and
proposal information within the database.
Collaborate with major gift officers and directors of development to review their
assignment list regularly.
Perform prospect research for Office of the President, including providing information
about prospective Board of Trustees candidates.

Participate in department meetings for project planning and direction setting.
Attend and staff special events, some of which occur during the evening and on
weekends.
