Division: Elementary and Secondary EducationPosition Title: Statewide Athletic DirectorSalary: $88,545 - $123,963The Statewide Athletic Director will be responsible for providing direction and coordination for the District of Columbia Local Education Agency (LEA) sports programs and to guide the development and implementation of an athletic program that will provide the best possible academic, health and physical education experiences for each student.The Statewide Athletic Director is responsible for leading and coordinating the District of Columbia LEA’s athletics programs establishing policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes. The Statewide Director will provide regulatory guidance to women's and men's sports and their respective coaching staffs, budgets, and various other related facets, such as, event management and fund-raising activities as appropriate.The Statewide Athletic Director works with LEAs to set the objectives and resources available for a project or assignment and develops the deadlines, project specifications, and work to be completed with the LEAs. The incumbent must coordinate specifications and outcomes with educators, parents and stakeholders as part of the Statewide Athletic Council.
