ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I/II (Transit Analyst) - 15-061-66-DJ
SALARY: $35,931.00 - $66,136.00 Annually
THE POSITION
This position functions as a Transit Analyst and is entry level para-professional technical work performed in support of County-wide transportation engineering and planning projects. Assignments are performed within the scope of County policies and procedures under the direct supervision of the Chief, Transit Administration Section.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Incumbent in this position analyzes transportation data, reports, and statistics related to TheBus, WMATA, Paratransit operations and other public transit services; develops, coordinates and reviews programs related to specific transportation issues; prepares revenue reports; prepares memoranda, letters, reports, logs, maps, and other graphics relating to public transit and other transportation services; represents the Office of Transportation at local, regional and federal partner agency meetings at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and others; participates in the collection and compilation of transportation data and fares on a systematic and as needed basis; serves on the National Transit Database (NTD) survey team and leads as needed; investigates service complaints and service disruptions; helps to determine and prepares annual program budgets and goals and objectives; participates as a critical/essential employee in the Department’s Snow and Ice Control Program and other emergency or special activities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D., plus one (1) year of para-professional experience compiling and analyzing transit data in a transportation environment, in addition to proficiency in the use of basic software applications such as Excel, Word and Access. An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience of the type required of this position will be considered.
